MONEY.

The Russian monetary unit is rouble. One Rouble is equal to 100 kopeecks.

At the present time, there are the following money in circulation: coins of 1, 5, 10, 50 kopeеcks; coins of 1, 2, 5 Roubles. Paper bills come in denominations of 10, 50, 100, 500 and 1000, 5000 rbl.

Though all major credit cards are accepted in Moscow, no traveler can get along without cash money. You can always exchange any amount of hard currency for roubles at authorized banks or in the small exchange offices marked as “Obmen valuty”, which can be found all over the city.

Major hotels, most restaurants and a growing number of stores accept Visa, Mastercard and EC; Amercian Express are less common. American Express and Thomas Cook traveler’s cheques are exchangeable at most banks.

In Russia, payment for all goods and services is to be made in the national currency, or by credit cards.

Over 500 banks currently operate in Moscow, providing the wide range of banking services. Most of the banks are open to clients from 10.00 to 13.00

Currency exchange offices are usually open from 10.00 to 20.00

Large hotels provide 24-hour banking services. Money is exchanged only upon presentation of a passport. Currency exchange transactions with private persons are out of law.
