Arbat – Kropotkinskaya
The beginning of the former Bolshaya Smolenskaya street now is called Vozdvizhenka; the middle part of it is famous Arbat, the first pedestrian zone of Moscow, one of the most visited places of the city.
It is considered that Arbat is the most Moscovites’ street it has become a thing of it’s own by being the place of attraction to many writers, scientists and the top of the city’s cultural elite. Architectures say that Arbat has never had unified architectural style. It is rather a mixture of Modern, Empire and Rus-style.
Perhaps because of such a mixture of styles the charm of the street appeared, which has a power to attract us today. There are a lot of cafes, restaurants, theatres, antique and painters’ shops, numerous Russian souvenirs and artist stands throughout the street - plenty of things to be attracted to indeed.
The district around pedestrian Arbat is also very popular among tenants and buyers of elite apartments. There are different types of buildings here: pre-revolutionary, reconstructed mansions and so called CK and new club buildings.
The New Arbat Prospect between Arbat Square and Sadovoye (Garden) Ring is another sight of present-day Moscow.
The super modern style of this thoroughfare is made up by the geometrical regularity of its lines and the obvious repetitions and sharp contrasts of the forms.
The verticals of the twenty-six-storey tower-shaped blocks rhythmically alternate with the lower, somewhat flattened, rectangular buildings that house cafes, bars, restaurants (including the Tropicana and Metelitsa) and shops (including Novoarbatsky, a largest supermarket in the capital).
The light-colored twenty-storey building that rises above Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment is known as the White House, as it is the seat of Russia’s government.
Nevertheless the most popular residential area in Moscow is considered to be the district of quiet and green bystreets in the area of ‘Kropotkinskaya’ metro station.
Charming mansions close to modern developments, nice infrastructure, the most prestigious restaurants and cafes, green areas and pedestrians zones, sights and museums, Museum of Arts by name of Pushkin, Cathedral of Christ the Savior, numerous Embassies - this is the Kropotkinskaya area, also is famous by the name of it's two main streets: Ostogenka and Prechistenka.
Presently the district is being actively developed by the new elite residential complexes with their own mini-infrastructure (kinder gardens, playgrounds, fitness clubs, pools, underground parking and so on) So it has become the most expensive part of the city, its ‘Golden Mile’
Convenient proximity to all major transport routes , Boulevard ring (its Gogol ring part) and Garden ring on the South West part of the district, just minutes from the Kremlin, Arbat, Moskva River Embankment, Zamoskvorechye and Frunzenskaya Embankment make the living in this part even more prestigious.
