Novoslobodskaya
Novoslobodskaya street and metro got their names after a New Settlement of people from Dmitrov town, North to Moscow, the Old Settlement was inside the ring of Artificial Soil Hill or Soil City, which later became known as the Garden Ring. The New Dmitrov Settlement, however, was growing faster and later kept a simple name of New Settlement, i.e. Novoslobodskaya.
To the East of Petrovka street, towards Tsvetnoy Boulevard metro station there have been numerous settlements of Kremlin bell-masters and ringers (Zvonarskiy and Kolokolnikov lanes), Just inside the former White City from the earlier times lived masters of making a truly Russian beverages: kisels (Kiselny lanes), as well as Cannon-men, (Pushkarev lane and Pushechnaya street), who dwelled here since 1380s
Today this side is made popular by the old Moscow Circus of Nikulin, the man loved by children of many generations and famous and oldest Sandunov’s Banya.
Here is of course Tsvetnoy Boulevard (Flower Boulevard, La Rambla) for the residents to enjoy. The unique Hermitage Garden and Hermitage Theater together with the Theatre of New Opera, a lot of restaurants and cafe, boutiques, shops, beauty saloons, Dolls Theater, Durov's Animal theater, Theater of Soviet Army, green boulevards and Ekaterina's park in the nearest vicinity, convenient transport junction, -all of these makes this area advantageous as to the families with children as to businessmen who value their comfort and time.
In terms of buildings inside the Garden Ring the pre-revolution old classic style buildings prevail with inclusions of new elite and business-class developments.
Outside the Garden Ring some Soviet era buildings were built for Ministries as well as newest elite developments and good quality Stalin-era buildings.
